Scanning From Printer to Windows

Step 1: Turn on your printer

On the printer, locate the power button or switch as the case may be. Press it on to get your printer operational.

Step 2: Put the document in the scanner

To scan your document, place it face-down in the scan area of your printer.

Step 3: Open the start menu

Find and click the windows icon.

Step 4: Click All programs

Find “all programs” and click on it to continue.

Step 5: Click Windows Fax and Scan

Your computer will display a list of programs installed on your computer.

Move your cursor to and click “Windows Fax and Scan”.

Your computer will open a new window: “Windows Fax and Scan”

Step 6: Click on “Scan”

Find the “Scan” button and click it.

Then move your cursor to the toolbar above in the window and click on the “New Scan” button.

This will cause another dialog box to open.

Step 7: Make your settings

With the settings found on the right part of your window, you can make several choices and selections.

You can let the computer know what is being scanned, the file type, the color profile, etc.

Step 8: Preview the document

By clicking “Preview”, you find out what your document will look like when it is finished.

If you are not satisfied, you need to make the final changes. However, if you are satisfied; move to the next step.

Step 9: Scan your document

Once you are done with the preview, click the “Scan” button. This will scan the document and you will be presented with the final image.

Step 10: Save your document

Click the “Save As” button and complete the information required.

This includes entering a filename, and what kind of file you want it saved as.

When you are done with the above, click the “Save” button: This saves your document to the designated folder.

Scanning From Printer to Mac

Step 1: Turn on your printer

On the printer, locate the power button or switch as the case may be. Press it to get your printer operational.

Step 2: Place the document in the scanner

To scan your document, place it face-down in the scan area of your printer.

Step 3: Open Apple menu

Open the Apple menu on your Mac by clicking the Apple logo.

Step 4: Click on “System Preferences”

The apple menu will drop down and you’ll click “System Preferences” to continue.

Step 5: Click on “Printers and Scanners”

Click on “Printers and scanners”. It is represented with a printer icon.

Step 6: Click your scanner

At the left column, available scanners (or printers in this case) will be displayed. Click on your printer’s name to continue.

Step 7: Click on “Scan”

There’s a “Scan” tab located at the upper part of the current window, click on it to proceed.

Step 8: Click on “Open Scanner”

Find and click the “Open scanner” button.

Step 9: Click on “Show Details”

At the bottom-right of the window, click on “Show details”.

Step 10: Select file type

Then click “Format”. Select the file type you want your file saved as.

Step 11: Select color

Click “Kind”. Then choose the color you want your document to appear in.

Step 12: Click Save To

Click “Save To” and click the folder where you’ll like to save the scanned document.

Step 13: Make other changes

You’ll be able to make some certain changes here depending on your preference. These include changing orientation and resolution.

Step 14: Click Scan

At the right end of the current window, you’ll find the “Scan” button; click it.

This will scan your document. It is then saved in the designated folder you chose.
